Daryl Abbas may be a friend to many, but his voting record is not. Abbas voted to eliminate women’s medical choices when it involves pregnancy. The NH abortion ban, the first in this state, has resulted in loss of funds to at least three NH medical clinics serving low-income women and their families. This extreme legislation also put physicians and other medical workers at risk for lawsuits and criminal charges causing delays in providing life-saving measures to women with compromised pregnancies.
Abbas also proved he is reckless about gun safety. He supports open carry anywhere in the state, including school grounds and polling places. When it comes to gun rights, he sponsored and/or voted for measures in line with right wing extremists in his party. According to his webpage, he is proud of their endorsements as well.
It is especially troubling that Abbas, representing all the citizens of Salem supported bills that seek to dismantle one of New Hampshire’s greatest assets, its public schools! The Parental Bill of Rights is a solution in search of a problem. It is a dangerous disservice to school professionals, limiting their ability to teach and support students and puts them at risk for disciplinary action. Parents always had the right to partner in their child’s education. This bill does the opposite by creating only discord.
