The first thing to know about my candidacy is that I am a moderate Democrat, which means that I am a little conservative on some issues such as the economy and definitely more liberal on social issues. I am not in favor of the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and the awful fallout that is falling in its wake. I do react emotionally and then balancing those reactions with logic and reason. One thing that has been said of me more than once is that I see the good in everyone balancing what I hear with a "maybe they..." In truth I try to be fair, understanding that very little is truly one sided. This leads to my slogan " A Voice for Fairness" This is what I will bring to Salem as your State Representative.
I have a BS in U.S. History and Tudor Stuart England, a minor in political science. I also hold a master's in education. The U.S. Constitution and democracy is very important to me and while a member of the U.S. Women's Army Corps I swore to defend and protect the Constitution and our democracy. I have not wavered from that stance.
In terms of what you can expect If I am fortunate enough to earn your vote in September and November is that I will always represent Salem in a fair and balanced way.Salem is on the cusp of unlimited possibilities and I am excited to work with you to realize thses possibilities.
I am not a lifelong New Hampshire resident having grown up In Lowell, Mass. where I went to public school and graduating from U.Mass Lowell. I brought up my 2 children there, before coming to Salem in 2016. Professionally I taught in the middle and high school levels at two Catholic schools and now (semi retired) I teach at the John J Weir Middle School in Tewksbury Mass.
I look forward to meeting, talking and listening to your stories, concerns and visions for Salem.
